Space Distortion (Improved Reality Folding/Telekinesis)
Due to the complex nature of this ability, all effects take 1 full round to take effect. Exceptions are noted. The effect kicks in at the same phase of the next round. Range is „sight“ for all skills.
Free Ability: Sense Distortion
Passive Skill. The Ebon develops a sensibility for Space Distortions, natural and unnatural. The Ebon knows in which phase which Space Distortion effect will take effect where. He may keep track of a number of effects up to his CONC. He is aware of the upcoming effect as soon as it is formulated.
01 Ripple 1
The Ebon causes a short disruption in the structure of the universe, causing a gravitational wave.
The target ship is slightly rocked, drifts from course and people onboard may stumble. All tasks (including aiming, maneuvering and concentration) receive a +1 difficulty for 1 round.
02 Ripple 2
The target ship is slightly rocked, drifts from course and people onboard may stumble. All tasks (including aiming, maneuvering and concentration) receive a +2 difficulty for 1 round.
03 Ripple 3
The target ship is rocked, drifts from course and people onboard may stumble. All tasks (including aiming, maneuvering and concentration) receive a +4 difficulty for 1 round.
04 Ripple 4
The target ship is severely rocked, thrown off course and people onboard fall down. Unsecured equipment may get damaged. Combat operation is impossible for 1 round.
05 Ripple 5
The target ship is violently rocked, thrown off course and people onboard are thrown against walls and installations. Crew and unsecured equipment get damaged, even secured equipment may shake loose. Combat operation is impossible for 1 round, permanent defects probable.
06 Stabilization 1
The Ebon stabilizes space around the ship, negating the effects of Ripple 1-5 on a CONC roll with a difficulty equal to the Rank of Space Distortion used. This skill is used active and takes only one action to unfold. The formulation must be timed so the effect triggers in the round in which the Ripple takes effect.
07 Boarding 1
The Ebon creates an artificial gravity funnel, allowing boarding troops to „fall“ directly to towards the enemy vessel. Duration is CONC in minutes.
08 Displacement 1
The ebon folds a discernable structural part of the enemy ship a short distance into space, ripping it from the ship. This may include weapon systems, single crew members or hatches. This does not cause explosive decompression, except on very poorly constructed ships.
09 Space Deflection 1
The Ebon distorts the space around it’s own ship, giving all directed “attacks” (including ebb-skills that need a precise direction or location) a 40% miss chance. Duration is CONC in minutes.
10 Boarding 2
As Boarding 1 plus the Ebon creates an effect comparable to wall-walk at the end of the gravity funnel, allowing troops to fall through the hull of the enemy ship.
11 Displacement 2
The Ebon folds a large chunk of hull a short distance into space, causing explosive decompression to one section of the ship (as defined by it’s decompression-countermeasures).
12 Stabilization 2
As Stabilization 1, additionally affecting Boarding 1 & 2, Displacement 1 & 2 and cancels any use of Reality Folding up to Rank XX that happens at the same time targeting the defending ship.
13 Space Deflection 2
As Space Deflection 1, with a 60% miss chance.
14 Blow Out
By causing a minor “hole” in the fabric of the universe, the Ebon causes the ship’s conventional/ion drive energy to be soaked up, causing a blow out, a shut-down of the engine. The engine has to be restarted completely.
15 Wormhole
The Ebon causes a “folding tunnel” directly connecting two points. This may be used for Boarding operations, shortening shooting distances or exposing internal sections of an enemy ships to space.
16 Force Fold
The Ebon folds an object of any size - including complete ships - away. The exact location of reappearance is random. Chances for the object folded to appear in a dangerous environment (close to a sun or planet , in an asteroid field, etc.) are negligible, except it serves story purpose.
17 Space Deflection 3
As Space Deflection 1 & 2, with an 80% miss chance.
18 True Space
The Ebon creates a ship-sized field of stability which suppresses any Reality Folding, Telekinesis and Space Distortion except Space Distortion 19 and 20. This may be aimed at other ships to keep them from attacking or folding away. Duration is CONC in minutes.
19 Energy Drain
The Ebon creates an energy-draining effect, causing a complete shut-down of all systems onboard a ship. All batteries are emptied, all reactors shut down. The ship has to be jump-started via an external source.
20 Singularity
The ebon causes a spontaneous singularity. Anything within a 100m-diameter of space gets either sucked up or annihilated when the accumulated energy escapes after the singularity brakes down. No amount of armor protects against this.
