I guess at least half of you will find the very question ridiculous, but hear me out. If you are German, you will know that for us, Nationality is a big no-no. Reasons are apparent. We have no real life heroics, like UK has their "good King Richard" or USA has their "Honest Abe", not that we lack great people, but we lack the will to consider that. Either way, so as a German, I am used to have to adore foreign heroes. So for a long time, I did not care. I mean a good hero is a good hero, and what does it matter where he comes from?
But these days, things have changed. We have Black heroes, Asian heroes, Greek heroes, we have Captain Britain now in the Avengers, heck we have gay heroes! And what is every single German character in Superhero comics? A VILLAIN! "Ai am ze Hitlernator and Ai ehm heer to krush ju". Isn't that wonderful. I mean, I really like Captain America. Really. But every time Marvel brings back his antics about crushing "Krauts", it makes me cringe, and I wonder, how long will we be the bad guys free to be kicked by everybody? I mean, sorry for the ranting, but in a day when every group and minority gets "their" hero, Germans are still the villains everywhere.
Or we are silly people with Pickelhauben and Lederhosen. God, I am just so tired of seeing that! I mean, man, in the Civil War story Ben Grimm even went to FRENCH superheroes! Why has France a cool Superhero team and Germany hasn't? And what would ours be like? Prolly Mr Verboten or Captain Sieg-Heil... Pfft. I don't know about Comics, but I know that Germany is one of the biggest markets for American computer games, so I guess we are not a target audience totally irrelevant. Just saying. I mean, ya know even we want to be rid of the ridiculous sterotypes. Everyone yells (and rightly so) when a Black person is shown in some 1950 stereotype, but you can bring German Nazi Villains in Legions and it apparently doesn't matter at all.
