AW: KONTAKT - Kode: O.M.E.G.A.
1. What do you imagine the players to do? Are there different roles and responsibilities? If so, which?
I imagine the players to roleplay members of an international, independent Organization, kept in secret by a coalition of powerful governments. They are meant to counter the alien influence on the population by the means of warfare, research and manipulation. Examples for different roles would be: field scientist, grunt, commanding officer, agent. However, the game does NOT use defined player character classes.
2. What do you imagine the protagonists to do?
Mostly, they would be looking into information on alien lifeforms, staying alert for an attack or signs of infiltration. They have access to a global informational network of spies and operatives, and can, dependent on their rank and position, do investigations themselves, similar to the main protagonists from the X-Files.
3. How do you imagine the settting?
It's a realistic near future only 40 years ahead. Imagine advancing megacorporate structures within most states, while many are devastated by natural disasters and crisis. In many countries, war is imminent, while the modern superpowers use propaganda to create the illusion of an utopian society - which is all other than that.
4. Which of these answers do you consider most important and which do you plan to present in your book?
All of them are of great importance. The quality of a roleplaying game lives of its many aspects. The book deals with history, as well as technological achievements and a detailed part about known alien races.
5. Who shall play the game where and when?
The game is intended for players with some to lots of experience in sci-fi/dark future RPGs. And I guess they can play whenever they like!
6. How long does it take to play the game? How is it structured?
It is structured similar to most futuristic RPGs, and can be played as single, episodical "adventures", but would be more promising if structured into a larger campaign with implications of the player's actions for future events.
7. Which rules have you derived from answers 1 - 6?
What?
8. Finally, summarize what your games is about.
The game is about alien defense, as it was already pictured in computer games like "X-Com". The motto of the game could also be put as: "Know your enemy as well as you know yourself."
