Here are my thoughts and why. When I heard that White Wolf was going to make Promethean, I had an interesting thought: This game parallels Vampire on several levels.
Both games deal with Undead creatures whom have social issues. Both groups deal heavily with themes regarding Humanity. Flimsy, I know, but understand that this is part of it.
When Changeling was announced, I nodded. Both Changeling and Werewolf have parallels as well. Both are creatures of divided natures and are split between two worlds. Both deal heavily with nature and natural elements, and both have to deal with the balance between these two natures.
I started to realize that the games parallel to a degree. Both have similar themes, but go in different directions. The third game would have to be a game that deals with the wisdom regarding the use of power and trying to help humanity rise up.
There's two games from the previous line that could fit this. Mage and Hunter. This parallel is not lost on people, whom compared Mage to the original Hunter when Mage first came out.
Given the above information and the pattern to which these games operate, I provide the following prediction:
- There will be both a power stat and a source.
- Hunters will get their abilities from an unknown source, or possibly divine.
- Hunters will not necessarily hunt the other types. They may be more protectors from humanity than the violent kill-all that the previous game seemed to illicit.
- Hunters will deal with themes regarding the use of their power. The morality stat will probably be focused on this. Furthermore, Hunters will have an additional negative effect to worry about when using their powers.
- Hunters will depart strongly from the earlier game, opening it up to more character types and less stereotyping, while still building on the basis of defenders of the people from legend.
If you look at previous game lines, all of these match up nicely. This is why I doubt the sixth game will be a new Wraith. Perhaps as the seventh.
