Der Deadlands Comic

Dieses mal ein richtiger Deadlands-Comic, kein Horror-Western der nur so ähnlich ist:

Image Comics has announced a partnership with Visionary Comics and Pinnacle Entertainment to bring the award-winning Deadlands RPG to the world of comics. Image will publish four Deadlands one-shot, self-contained comics featuring Deadlands Weird Western adventures.

The first Deadlands comic will be released in June, with a new comic due out every month through September. Image has assembled all-star creative teams including David Gallaher, Steve Ellis, Jimmy Palmiotti, Justin Gray, Lee Moder, Ron Marz, Bart Sears, Steve Niles, Francisco Francavilla, and Michael Atiyeh.

Each book will present a story set in a world that gamers will recognize brought to life, while non-gamers who enjoy westerns, horror, or steampunk will be introduced to a world of magic, shadows, and six-guns. Each book will also include a portion of a 4-part back-up story so that those who buy the four issues will get a fifth story free.

Okay es ist Juni und mittlerweile gibt es auch ein Preview zu The Devils's Six Gun. Das sieht eigentlich ganz ordentlich aus, oder was meint ihr?

Hmm, ich habe mir mal Death Was Silent gegönnt. Insgesamt 22 Seiten Comic, der Rest der 36 Seiten sind Einführungs- und Nachworttexte zu Deadlands und den Comics von Shane und Sellner, (recht gut aussehende) Skizzen und ein bisschen Werbung. Der Zeichenstil, ist, was für eine Überraschung, recht düster gehalten, handwerklich gut, wenn auch nach oben noch Luft ist, passend, aber nicht spektakulär originell. Die Story und Charaktere sind nett, es gibt typische Deadlandssettingelemente und Critter. Und der Hauptcharaktere ist hübsch düster-cool, wenn auch ebenfalls nicht spektakulär originell (Wer nicht mindestens einmal Saint of Killers denkt, hat Preacher nicht gelesen )
Alles in allem: Als Comic zwischen durch ganz okay. Wenn man Deadlands und Comic Fan ist, kann man 1,09€ sicher wesentlich dümmer und sinnloser anlegen. Allein, die große Deadlands- und/oder Western-Horror-Comic-Offenbarung sollte man, zumindest von diesem Band der Reihe, nicht erwarten.

Ich kenne zwar nur "Black Water", aber der hat mir ganz gut gefallen.

Klar, es ist kein Jonah Hex. Aber gerade für Deadlands-Freunde ist das durchaus eine interessante zusätzliche Art in den Weird West einzutauchen.

(Man kann auch noch W.E.S.T,, Priest und andere Comics empfehlen - für Deadlands: The Weird West trifft für mich aber Jonah Hex die Stimmung noch am besten von allen.)

Also schlecht fand ich Death Was Silent jetzt auch nicht!
Und da es ja immer andere Autoren und Zeichner sind, kann ja auch noch ein Unterschied zwischen den einzelnen Bänden sein.
