In general, you can expect to see the following guidelines in action.
New Settings will be released as hardbacks then will be followed up with Explorer's Edition softbacks. This will also hold true for additional setting materials, such as the Deadlands Plot Point books. This will vary more with licensed properties.
"Remastered" Settings, which are mostly previously published settings being brought up to current standards and put back into print, will return as Explorer's Edition softbacks, but will probably not get a hardback release.
Core Rules will probably be released as hardbacks for "new versions" with Explorer's Edition softbacks to follow. "Minor update" editions would likely only be released as Explorer's Edition softbacks. You'll note the liberal use of quotations on this one, as decisions about what's new and what's minor are invariably quite subjective.
That's the general overview of the roughly standard plan. I'm sure there will be deviations. After all, it's an industry filled with creative people, and creative people seem to really dislike anything that feels like a standard operating procedure. In general, anyway. Wink
