Warriors of the Mantis
On the field of battle you have proved to be stronger than the greatest of the great clans! Lest the empire forget the power of trade routes you have also used your Koku to outbid the Lion and claim your right to a temptation in the first leg by winning both the Military and Economic spheres!
You have earned the right to be tempted.
To vote you must reply to this message with “MANTIS YES” or “MANTIS NO” in the Subject line. Any other variations to the subject line may not be counted. Each clan member is allowed only one vote. On June 15 the votes will be totaled and the results revealed.
Your Temptation is as follows. A vote of “MANTIS YES” is to accept it, “MANTIS NO” is to reject it.
The Mantis have ever been the smallest of the Great Clans, and their recent war against the Phoenix, together with their losses suffered in the Battle of Toshi Ranbo, have worsened the situation dramatically. Although the Clan Champion has brought many ronin in to serve the clan in order to alleviate the problem, the clan is still flagging in numbers. While many feel that there is little that can be done, others look to old allies, and wonder if there is another path…
If the clan accepts the Temptation:
A terrible crisis will cripple the Fox Clan, a crisis so dire that when Yoritomo Naizen extends the hand of friendship, the Kitsune gladly accept. The Mantis offer will be far greater than a simple gesture of forgiveness or apology: it will be an offer of a home within the clan, and the Fox will accept. The Kitsune will become the fourth great family of the Mantis. Beginning with the expansion that follows Honor’s Veil, they will begin to receive personality support for the clan.
Also, each Imperial Assembly member registered with the Mantis will be able to order one set of Samurai Edition Common Foil cards from the AEG store. Your cost will be 1 dollar plus the shipping charges to send the set to you.
However, as a result, the Mantis will only score half points in Economy for the second leg of the Race. (This will be calculated and rounded down at the end of the leg.)
If the clan rejects the Temptation:
The Mantis will gain 4 starting bonus points each in Military and Economy for the second leg of the Race. However, the Fox Clan will not join with the Mantis and gain its personalities, nor will you have the option to buy a set of foils.
